At the end of the 19th century, nearly all of the wine consumed in Paris passed through the warehouses on the quay of Bercy (found on the river Seine in southeastern Paris.) Tis image, taken by the French photographer Charles Delius, shows a wine dealer who has taken delivery of a shipment and who is probably verifying that the was not damaged during transport.
