Moving at a rate of approximately 1cm/hour, this Mer de Glace (Sea of Ice) is one of the largest glaciers in the Alps. Taken by the Swiss photographer Florentin Charnaux, well known for his landscape photographs, this image provides an astounding perspective of this glacier as it flows down the slopes of Mount Blanc and through the Chamonix valley.
