Biography

Born in Bristol on 7th July 1966, Paul spent most of his youth in the South West of England. In his younger years, his retired uncle gave him his first camera at the age of eight. An enthusiasm for photography soon developed, especially in the themes of natural landscapes and engineering.

Originally, Paul was influenced by design, which led to the conception and completion of a photographic dark room at the sixth form college where he was studying. A fine art based Foundation Course at Plymouth College of Art & Design was followed subsequently by photography, film and television courses.

A studio on the famous Portobello Rd in London was the location for Paul’s first job in the photographic business in 1990. This was a very rich  experience, with the opportunity to learn the different techniques in the craft of studio lighting from many great photographers of the day. Paul then moved on to the studio at Park Royal London in 1993, as well as working at as a freelance photographer for various car magazines.

Before starting his career as a full time photographer in 2000, Paul worked alongside Vincent Dixon, a Paris based advertising photographer. This was a steep learning curb in terms of understanding the business of photography especially ‘on the move’. It was an incredibly busy time, shooting campaigns for some of the top brands, in locations all around the globe (Perrier, Canal +, Renault, Nissan, etc…).
